How are Region Värmland’s activities financed?

All of our revenues are public funds. Region Värmland’s budget is around 30 million euro per year.

The funds are derived primarily from the county council, as we have taken over many of their activities, but also from the municipalities, the Government and the EU.

The allocation of income* can be outlined as follows:

• 15,6 million euro from the county council
• 1,1 million euro from the municipalities
• 0,2 million euro from the county administrative board (Government funds)
• 8,0 million euro in Government grants
• 0,3 million euro from the EU
• 0,4 million euro in revenue from activities related to courses and conferences
• 4,5 million euro are other revenues e.g. boarding school fees and commissioned courses, for example.

All in all, the county council and municipalities of Värmland have tax receipts of about 1,4 billion euro per year, of which Region Värmland receives 16,7 million. This means that about one percent of tax revenues from the residents of Värmland goes towards regional development.
