International Outreach Efforts for Future Investments in Värmland
Business Region Värmland recently participated in Bio Innovations North America in Omaha, USA. The conference brings together companies, investors, and stakeholders within industrial biomanufacturing and serves as a meeting place for businesses developing new products, processes, and production solutions based on biological raw materials.
For Business Region Värmland, the objective was clear: to connect with companies preparing for the next stage of their development and where Värmland could be a relevant location for future investment, production, or expansion. Prior to the conference, 20 one-on-one meetings were scheduled with companies from various parts of the bio-based industry. Discussions focused on topics such as access to renewable raw materials, industrial infrastructure, energy, skilled talent, potential collaborations, and the conditions required to scale up production.

From Initial Contact to Investment Dialogue
The meetings also provided valuable insights into the companies' future needs and plans. Discussions covered their next development phases, requirements for feedstock and expertise, opportunities for scaling production, and the types of industrial partners and regional stakeholders they are seeking. At the same time, the meetings gave us an opportunity to demonstrate how Värmland's business environment, infrastructure, and investment support services can meet a wide range of needs.
Companies, investors, and other industry stakeholders also approached Business Region Värmland to learn more about the region, its business ecosystem, and the opportunities for establishing operations here. By being present, engaging directly with the market, and remaining accessible for new conversations, we can also connect with companies that may not yet have Värmland on their radar.
"Companies do not choose investment locations by chance. They need to understand the opportunities available and feel confident in the location. That is why proactive outreach is so important. We need to be where the companies are, understand their needs, and demonstrate how Värmland can meet them. This type of meeting creates strong conditions for exactly that," says Ahmed Alaeddine, Head of Business Region Värmland.

Värmland's Strengths Meet Tomorrow's Needs
Värmland holds a strong position within the forest-based bioeconomy, with established companies, industrial expertise, and clusters that create opportunities for development and new partnerships. For Business Region Värmland, international outreach efforts are about identifying companies whose future needs align with Värmland's strengths and capabilities.
The dialogues initiated in Omaha are now continuing back home. Contacts are being followed up, new opportunities are being explored, and relationships are being further developed with the long-term objective of creating the conditions for new investments and business establishments in Värmland.
