Equal arrangements
Courses, conferences, thematic events, and festivals are examples of arrangements that unconsciously may be designed without any consideration of gender equality, diversity, and equity.
Do the following
Discuss and identify what different parts of an arrangement that you can have an effect on to create higher levels of gender equality, diversity, and equity.
For example:
- How do you select lecturers? Persons for a panel discussion? Moderator?
- Are any perspectives missing?
- What makes the invitation interesting and appealing for new people?
- Pastries and food – are there options available for all participants?
- Are our activities inclusive?
- How can we make sure that the arrangement is accessibility-proofed?
- How is the budget apportioned?
Bring out invitations, conference programmes, and course arrangements from the past year and discuss them from a perspective of gender equality, diversity, and equity.
Discuss and identify which different parts in connection with an arrangement you yourself have the opportunity to influence in order to create greater equality, better diversity and greater equality.
