Finnfoam invests in new factory in Kristinehamn

Finnfoam is investing in a new factory for PIR insulation in Kristinehamn. The factory will be the first in Scandinavia fully dedicated to PIR production and will be built alongside the company’s existing XPS and EPS production. The investment is the largest Finnfoam has made in Sweden and is expected to create several new jobs.

Finnfoam established its operations in Kristinehamn in 2017, and the site currently produces XPS and EPS insulation. With the new factory, the company will also produce PIR in Kristinehamn. The new production will complement Finnfoam’s existing PIR production in Finland and provide capacity for customers in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The investment means that Finnfoam’s three main insulation materials, XPS, EPS and PIR, will be produced in Kristinehamn.

PIR is a high-performance insulation material used in applications including roofs, walls and floors. It makes it possible to meet high energy performance requirements with thinner constructions, particularly where space is limited.

The application for an environmental permit has been submitted, while the building permit process and project planning are underway. Construction can begin once the necessary permits are in place. The new factory is expected to be operational in 2028.

The investment represents a continued development of Finnfoam’s operations in Kristinehamn and a new industrial investment in Värmland. The new factory will add PIR production to the company’s existing manufacturing operations in the region.
