Line 93
On route 93, which departs from Inre Hamn in Karlstad and travels to destinations including Västra Långholmen, you can board with both mobility scooters and wheelchairs. There is a ramp without railings between the quay and the boat, and inside the boat there is a stair lift. To reach the stair lift, there is a small threshold to cross – the boat crew can assist if needed.
At Västra Långholmen, there is an accessible boardwalk leading to the island’s southern side. Two- or three-wheeled electric mopeds or scooters with handlebars – so-called mobility scooters – are advised to travel on route 93. Foldable wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, and similar devices are welcome on board.
We recommend visiting the boat at Inre Hamn in Karlstad and checking with the crew about the available boarding options.
Lines 90, 91 and 94
These boats have stairs down into the boats, and the staff will put out rails if a wheelchair is going to get into the boat. The width of the wheelchair determines whether it is possible to get down the stairs or not. If you want to travel with one of these lines, we recommend that you visit the boats at Inre hamn in Karlstad and check with the boat staff on site what opportunities there are to travel. Of course, we want as many people as possible to take a trip with the Båtbussarna, and we have had wheelchairs on board the wooden boats in Karlstad in previous years. Unfortunately, it is not possible to take mobility scooters or electric mopeds on lines 90, 91 and 94, but in that case we refer you to travel with line 93 towards Västra Långholmen. For more information about the different boats and what they look like, we refer you to the shipping company Skeppa Rederi AB, which operates the traffic on our behalf. You can read more at Skeppa.se. It is okay to bring foldable wheelchairs/rollators if space permits.
