More women than men are on sick leave, while men to a greater extent are involved in workplace accidents. One reason may be that women are more stressed since they often are responsible for children and housework, while norms regarding masculinity make men take more risks.

An occupational disease is when factors at work affect a person’s physical or mental health. Women are significantly overrepresented here, 73% of the reports come from women and 27% from men.

More men than women take their own life
In 2022, 1,254 people died of suicide in Sweden, of which 897 men and 357 women. Ten of them were children under the age of 15.

Pay gap in percentage – a European comparison
The table shows the gender pay gap in percentage after paid worker hour. The pay gap between men and women in Sweden is 11% in benefit of the men. Luxembourg is the only European country where the salaries of women and men are equal.
